Weapon (longsword), legendary (requires attunement)

This ancient blade radiates an unbearable stench that assaults the senses of anyone near it. The sword’s metal is mottled and tarnished, with a hilt wrapped in what appears to be decaying leather. Faint, greenish fumes rise from the blade, and the air around it seems to shimmer with a vile aura. Despite its repulsive appearance, the Stinky Sword is an incredibly powerful weapon, though few are willing to endure the personal cost of wielding it.

Foul Power. You gain a +3 bonus to attack and damage rolls made with this magic weapon. In addition, when you hit a creature with the Stinky Sword, the target must make a DC 16 Constitution saving throw or become poisoned for 1 minute. While poisoned in this way, the creature emits a horrid stench, causing any creatures within 10 feet to make the same saving throw or become poisoned as well.

Aura of Disgust. While attuned to the Stinky Sword, your Charisma score is reduced by 5 (to a minimum of 1). You cannot suppress the overwhelming stench of the blade, and any creature within 30 feet of you can smell its noxious odor. This makes social interactions challenging, to say the least. Any Charisma (Deception, Intimidation, Performance, or Persuasion) checks you make are made with disadvantage. Creatures that rely on smell may refuse to interact with you entirely, or they may become hostile toward you.

Plague of the Blade. Once per day, you can release a wave of noxious fumes from the sword. As an action, all creatures within a 30-foot radius must succeed on a DC 16 Constitution saving throw or take 4d10 poison damage and become poisoned for 1 minute. You and any allies within the radius also make this save. Using this ability leaves the air thick with an unbearable stench, and the affected area remains poisoned for 1 minute, rendering it difficult to breathe or pass through without suffering the effects.

Though the Stinky Sword is feared for its destructive potential, most adventurers regard it as a curse. Wielding this weapon means walking through life surrounded by a cloud of pestilence, turning even allies away. Only the most desperate or reckless heroes will tolerate its malodorous presence for the power it offers.
