Weapon dagger, rare requires attunement

This ancient dagger is carved from a single piece of blackened wood, its blade impossibly sharp and cool to the touch. Etchings of twisting roots and delicate leaves spiral down the handle, and a faint scent of forest soil clings to it. When held, the bearer can hear a distant whisper, like the rustle of wind through leaves.

Druid’s Tap is imbued with primal magic, granting its wielder a deep connection to the natural world. While attuned to the dagger, you gain the following benefits:

• Rooted Resilience. You gain advantage on saving throws against being poisoned and have resistance to poison damage.

• Verdant Strike. Once per long rest, when you hit a creature with an attack using this dagger, you can cause vines to erupt from the wound, restraining the target for 1 minute (DC 15 Strength check to break free).

• Nature’s Whisper. While you are outdoors, you can use Speak with Plants once per day without expending a spell slot.

However, this power comes at a price. Druid’s Tap is bound to the lifeblood of the earth, and the bond must be maintained. If the blade is not buried in the trunk of a living tree for at least one hour before the wielder’s long rest, they suffer the following curse:

• You do not gain the benefits of a long rest, and any levels of exhaustion you had prior to resting remain. Additionally, you wake feeling drained, gaining one level of exhaustion upon waking. This exhaustion cannot be removed by any means other than properly attuning to the blade the following night.

• The whisper of the forest becomes harsher, a constant reminder of the bond you have neglected. You are plagued by unsettling dreams of withering trees and dying forests until you fulfill the ritual.
